Personal: I was born in The Netherlands and arrived in Australia over 20 years ago. I am happily married to a Dutchman, and have four children (3 boys and a girl). My immigration sparked my interest in the cultural differences when it comes to attitudes, norms, and values around relationships and intimacy.

I believe it is important to recognise that there is no ‘normal’ and that normality is defined by individuals depending on their culture, religion, personality, upbringing, language, sex, sexuality and creativity. This is what keeps me motivated and interested in my work, since I meets different kinds of ‘normal’ every day.

Passion: My true passion is to spread my knowledge on relationships and intimacy to a broad audience, and in the process really having an impact on people’s lives. I am here to help. I am also extremely grateful to have our community of over 70,000 people on Instagram, and humbled by all the positive feedback I receive. Thank you so much!

Desiree Says: "Every relationship can encounter difficulties, even the very best ones, and this is nothing to be ashamed of. In the course of your life, many challenges will be thrown at you and/or your partner, but it is about how you then go about dealing with those challenges that can truly make a world of difference.

I sincerely believe that it is important for all of us to look at ourselves within, that you love the relationship you have with yourself first and foremost and that you can recognize and be at peace with your own strengths and weaknesses. Once you have a solid understanding of who you are, you can only then truly bring meaning and love into your own life and into your partner's life. Relationship Wellness' aim is to assist you with learning to incorporate and maintain coping skills, and provide various tools in order to deal with the challenges life might bring."
